Lotte Observation Deck in Hanoi is a night view spot I was really looking forward to! As a nightscape enthusiast, I had to make time to visit this place when I came to Vietnam’s capital. The transparent walkway and the dazzling night view left a deep impression on me.

This article is a visit record of the Lotte Observation Deck in Hanoi, including ticket prices, transportation, and insights. If you also love collecting night views from around the world, don’t miss it.

About Lotte Center Hanoi

Lotte Center Hanoi (Vietnamese: Lotte Center Hà Nội) is the fourth tallest building in Vietnam. As the name suggests, it is invested and operated by the Korean Lotte Group.

The building stands 272 meters tall, comprising 65 floors above ground and 5 underground levels. It is a comprehensive commercial building that includes a five-star hotel, department store, and spa.

This Lotte Department Store in Hanoi, constructed in 2010 and opened to the public in 2014, is not only a hub for local entertainment but also a beloved attraction for visitors to Hanoi.

Whether you’re here for shopping, enjoying a drink, buying souvenirs, or like us, coming up to see the night view, it can be said to be highly functional!

[Lotte Observatory Guide] Tickets, Opening Hours, and Money-Saving Tips (2025 Update)

Hanoi Lotte Observation Deck is located on the 65th floor of the department store, and there are two ways to enter the observation deck ticket office.

One way is to enter directly from the department store entrance, take the elevator to the basement level, and you’ll see the HANOI SKY sign.

The second way is directly outside Lotte Department Store, where there is an escalator leading straight to the observation deck entrance. Once you go down, you will see it.

The Lotte Observation Deck includes a 360-degree panoramic view, a high-altitude restaurant, a bar, and a transparent skywalk.

Even if you’re not a photography enthusiast, it’s worth coming up here to order a drink and enjoy the scenery.

On the day we visited, there were quite a few tourists, buying a drink or beer, sitting in the dining area by the window with a few friends, chatting and enjoying the high-altitude view.

Location of Lotte Department Store

Lotte Department Store is located in the western part of Hanoi, about a 15-20 minute drive from the bustling Old Quarter.

On this day, we came over after having coffee at Hanoi Train Street.

In the afternoon, be mindful of Hanoi’s busy traffic. If you want to catch the sunset, it’s advisable to allow some extra time.

This time, we booked through the KKday website. The price difference between online and on-site tickets is minimal. The advantage is that you can accumulate KKday Points to offset future purchases, and it saves the time of buying tickets on-site.

I find buying tickets on KKday quite convenient. Just enter the date you plan to visit, and after receiving the ticket voucher, you can exchange it at the counter and head upstairs.

When racing against the sunset, every minute saved is precious!

My 65th Floor Sky Experience: From Sunset to Glittering Night View

Compared to the Bangkok Skywalk and Las Vegas Observation Deck I’ve visited before, entering the Hanoi Lotte Observation Deck has almost no security check process. You just need to validate your ticket to enter directly.

Compared to the previous two, the crowd here is much sparser, allowing you to take the 50-second high-speed elevator to the 65th floor without queuing.

As soon as the elevator doors open, the entire cityscape of Hanoi comes into view.

Looking down, all the buildings resemble toy blocks, appearing extremely cute.

360-degree panoramic view

The observation deck offers a 360-degree panoramic view, with floor-to-ceiling windows at every angle, allowing you to overlook the entirety of Hanoi without any blind spots.

Take a leisurely walk around, switching to a bird’s-eye view to appreciate the city you’ve been exploring for days; it’s a truly unique experience.

Unlike the bustling streets below, the urban jungle appears quiet and serene from above.

The sky was a bit hazy that day, and without the backdrop of a blue sky, Vietnam’s capital took on a different charm.

Heart-pounding transparent skywalk

The most popular attraction on the observation deck is the transparent skywalk, which is also Southeast Asia’s first transparent skywalk!

Standing on the transparent floor, even though it’s not my first time experiencing it, looking down still gives me a slight tingling sensation in my feet!

Everyone can come and challenge their courage!

Lights On: The Magical Hour in Hanoi

We went up at around 5:30 in the evening, watching the sky transition from the bright afternoon into the night.

This is also my favorite moment, when the lights first come on, the sky isn’t completely dark yet but is tinged with a subtle gradient of blue.

This is also my favorite moment, known to photographers as the ‘Magic Hour’. Watching the traffic gradually light up with red and yellow dots, like flowing lava; the distant West Lake transforms from a gray haze to a deep indigo. The sky changes colors every minute, that brief splendor transitioning from warm to cool tones is a feeling that even the most expensive camera cannot fully capture.

In less than 15 minutes, the sky gradually darkens, and from above, the city’s scenery seems to transform from serene elegance to dazzling splendor.

A night filled with brilliant lights seems to best showcase the city’s energy and passion.

[Night View Enthusiast’s Private Photography Tips]

① Press the lens against the glass: This is the most effective way to reduce reflections
② Use a polarizing filter (CPL): If you want to eliminate reflections on the glass, a CPL is your best helper
③ Find corners or dark spots: Try to shoot in areas with less indoor light reflection

Is the Hanoi Lotte Observation Deck worth visiting? My review and summary

Hanoi Lotte Observation Deck was the last stop on our Hanoi trip. Initially, we planned to visit earlier, but the first two days in Hanoi were plagued by unpredictable rain, and on the second day, we even encountered a storm. We decided to postpone it to the later days, hoping for better weather.

Luckily, our gamble paid off. Although it was still cloudy with a thick layer of clouds obscuring the sunset I was hoping to see, the view of Hanoi from 65 floors up was still incredibly impressive.

From the peaceful calm of the day to the dazzling brilliance of the night, this city provided me with five days of relaxing and enjoyable travel. I left a few spots and restaurants unexplored, hoping for another chance to visit and experience them.

The Hanoi Observation Deck features Southeast Asia’s first transparent skywalk, along with a sky bar and restaurant. Whether you’re into photography or not, it’s highly recommended to spend an evening here. The same building houses Lotte Department Store and Lotte Mart, so after enjoying the night view, you can shop for souvenirs.

For tickets, it’s advisable to purchase online in advance and exchange them on-site to save time queuing for tickets!

去河內樂天觀景台,建議什麼時候去最好?

Highly recommend arriving “one hour before sunset”! In Hanoi, this is around 5 to 5:30 PM for the best entry time.
This way, you can enjoy “daytime city views“, “sunset glow“, and “brilliant nightscape“—three completely different scenes. Stay for an hour and a half to two hours to take in all the views, offering the best value!

除了觀景台,樂天中心 (Lotte Center) 還有什麼可以逛的?

Yes, and it’s very convenient! Lotte Center itself is a large complex mall. Many people plan it this way:
After enjoying the night view: You can head directly downstairs to B1’s “Lotte Mart“, where you’ll find a wide range of products. It’s an excellent place to buy souvenirs like Vietnamese coffee, pho instant noodles, and specialty snacks.
