Where to View Las Vegas Nightscape? Known as the “City That Never Sleeps,” this city boasts a captivating urban night view. The top choice for nightscape viewing is the observation deck on the 105th floor of the STRAT Hotel. From this high vantage point, you can gaze at the twinkling lights below. If you’re brave enough, you can even try the outdoor high-altitude rides! It’s a popular choice among Las Vegas attractions.

This article is a record of my trip to Las Vegas, including STRAT Hotel Observation Deck tickets and Las Vegas nightscape photography. If you love nightscape themes, don’t miss this million-dollar night view in America!

Introduction to STRAT Hotel The STRAT Observation Deck

The STRAT Hotel

Location: Situated at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip
Address: 2000 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89104
Construction started: 1991, completed in 1995
Height: 1,149 feet (350 meters)
Architectural feature: Tower design, the tallest building in Las Vegas
Hotel amenities: Guest rooms, observation deck, thrill rides, sky jump, restaurants, casino

Book now: <Klook>, <Booking>

Observation deck hours: 10:00 AM – 1:00 AM

Ticket tips: Don’t want to be overcharged? Avoid buying on-site!

Tickets for the STRAT are “dynamically priced”: Buying online is definitely cheaper than on-site.

Stratosphere Tower tickets can be purchased on-site or online. At the time, due to changes in my business trip schedule, I rushed to the on-site counter to buy a ticket, and it ended up being $10 more expensive than online (about 300 TWD more).

Since the Sky Hotel Observation Deck is the tallest building in Las Vegas and the top choice for enjoying the Las Vegas night view, it is quite a popular attraction and often crowded. Therefore, if you have time constraints, remember to arrive early.

Sky Tower Experience: Security Check and the “unassuming” elevator

After purchasing your ticket, you will receive a ticket printed with a photo of the Sky Tower. Then, take the escalator next to the counter to the second floor.

Along the way, there are some introductions about the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower reaches a height of 350 meters, taller than the Sydney Tower, Eiffel Tower, Tokyo Tower, and Macau Tower, making it the highest observation deck I’ve visited so far.

Security Check Counter

Like most observation decks, you must go through security before going up the Sky Tower.

The security specifications here are similar to those at airports. Special note: Selfie sticks are prohibited!

That day, I brought a selfie stick and ended up having to leave it at the security counter. This is something vlog enthusiasts should be particularly aware of.

30 seconds to reach the clouds

Compared to other famous observation deck elevators, The STRAT’s elevator is quite “retro” and simple. I recently visited the Mahanakhon Skywalk in Bangkok, Thailand, and the vibrant, modern high-speed elevator there left a lasting impression.

In contrast, The STRAT’s elevator seems quite basic, with a smaller space and no fancy animations inside. It’s just an “ordinary but very fast elevator” XD.

Although the elevator isn’t glamorous, its highlight is speed. The sensation of ear popping will tell you that you’re rushing to the 104th floor at an incredible speed.

104th Floor vs. 105th Floor: A Photographer’s Dilemma

The STRAT is divided into the 104th-floor indoor area and the 105th-floor outdoor area as two observation decks. The 104th floor has a snack bar offering some snacks and coffee drinks, and there’s also a high-altitude restaurant. These two observation areas offer distinctly different experiences:

104th Floor: A Romantic Indoor Date with Air Conditioning

As soon as the elevator doors open, you’ll be captivated by the 360-degree stunning views.

Thanks to its breathtaking night views without the wind, the 104th floor can be considered the top choice for a date in Las Vegas.

Due to the delay in buying tickets on the first floor, by the time we reached the observation deck, the sunset had already completely faded. However, looking towards the western sky, you could still see traces of the evening glow.

This floor is constructed with floor-to-ceiling windows at an approximate 45-degree angle, allowing you to enjoy the Las Vegas scenery up close. The best part is that there are plenty of sofas for relaxation in front of the windows.

Watching the romantic city lights while on a date is truly super romantic.

Capturing a pure night view on this glass observation deck is quite challenging. You can only get as close to the glass as possible and use your hand to block indoor light sources to reduce reflections caused by the glass.

The Google Pixel 6 Pro in my hand performs well in night photography. Even handheld, it can capture some traces of car trails, which really impressed me.

Since I was alone, and everyone around seemed to be on a date, I felt shy to ask someone to take a photo, so I just took a selfie with the million-dollar night view as a memento XD.

105th Floor: Million-Dollar Night View in the Gale

After visiting the indoor observation deck, I went up one more level to the Skypod outdoor observation deck.

Unlike indoors, as soon as you push open the glass door to the outdoor observation deck, you can immediately feel the strong winds at high altitude!

Although January in Las Vegas isn’t as damp and cold as Taipei, the temperature difference between day and night is significant, and you can still feel quite a chill.

(While busy taking photos, I forgot to check if the telescopes here require a fee or how much they charge XD)

This stunning night view in front of me is truly captivating. For night view enthusiasts, such a scene is like a natural endorphin, instantly lifting your spirits.

The biggest difference from the indoor observation deck on the 104th floor is that on the 105th floor, there is no glass reflection issue, allowing you to capture unobstructed views. However, due to the safety railings of a certain height around, you need to raise your hand as high as possible to avoid obstructions when taking photos.

Highlight Update: The MSG Sphere (Giant Sphere)

During the on-site shoot, I noticed this striking round sphere building. After researching at home, I found out it was the still-under-construction The MSG Sphere.

This is an entertainment center covering 580,000 square feet and can accommodate 17,500 people. Construction began in 2019 and was originally scheduled for completion in 2021, but due to the pandemic, it was delayed until 2023. It is said to have already cost 2.1 billion USD.

The coolest aspect of this sphere is its exterior, which is covered with numerous LEDs and boasts a very high resolution, allowing for various visual effects to be displayed on the sphere’s surface.

🔮 Must-See New Landmark: Sphere Theater

But those of you visiting now are in luck! Sphere is officially open, and from the observation deck of The STRAT, it is the most striking feature of the entire night view.

This world’s largest LED sphere constantly changes its appearance (earth, eyeball, emoji), and capturing the Sphere from above is currently the trendiest IG photo spot. Of course, buying a ticket to see the spherical theater inside is also a great experience!

Apart from the incredibly cool The MSG Sphere, the Las Vegas night view is also mesmerizing. The twinkling lights make the entire city sparkle, giving the feeling that various stories are unfolding in this city.

Overlooking Las Vegas from above at night is truly breathtaking, offering a completely different experience than walking on the streets.

With the weather being so good, you can see the silhouette of the mountains surrounding this desert city in the distance. The sky at this time has a faint pink hue, which is a color I really love.

拉斯維加斯夜景

I stayed on the observation deck for a long time, taking photos from every angle while feeling the breeze. Watching the bustling streets below and the vibrant neon lights, I felt a surreal sense of “I can’t believe I’m in Las Vegas!”

Thrilling rides

On the observation deck of the Stratosphere Hotel, besides the million-dollar night view of America, there are also thrilling rides, including bungee jumping and free fall, perfect for the brave-hearted.

Playing these rides above the 100th floor must make your feet tingle, right? Although I’d love to take on the challenge, it feels super lonely to enjoy the rides alone! Guess I’ll have to save it for next time.

For the rides, you can also purchase combo tickets directly on Klook, which are cheaper when combined with admission!

Las Vegas Night View Review: Stratosphere Tower Evaluation

I spent about an hour at the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower, from the time when there was still a bit of twilight, with a gradient sunset in the sky, until the entire sky turned pitch black. For someone who loves photography and night views like me, it’s a fantastic spot.

拉斯維加斯 雲霄塔 夜景

As the tallest building in Las Vegas, the Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck is a must-visit attraction in Las Vegas. Ascend to 350 meters to overlook the Las Vegas nightscape, watching the twinkling lights of this city that never sleeps. Feel the unique and dazzling charm of this entertainment-born, desert-living casino city.
