2019 Bohol Island Food Guide, Bohol Island Food Recommendations. On the first day of our Cebu trip, we rented a scooter from a local and traveled to Bohol Island. We tried the highly recommended must-eat pizza at Giuseppe Pizzeria. It has excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and, for me, it was the best restaurant I visited in Cebu XD. The pizza is made by an Italian chef and is very generously sized, perfect for two people to share.

What to eat on Bohol Island? Giuseppe Pizzeria location

Giuseppe Pizzeria is not located in the Bohol Island night market but is closer to the seaside, less than a kilometer from Alona Beach. In the evening, the restaurant is warmly lit with a cozy atmosphere. It is an Italian restaurant run and operated by an Italian owner.

About the Italian owner: After this article was shared on Facebook, it received responses and sparked discussions among netizens. Besides the fact that the owner speaks Chinese and has cycled around Taiwan (which is amazing), his brother also runs a pizza restaurant in Taipei. After hearing about it from netizens, I definitely have to try it!

Ranked among the Top 5 restaurants on Panglao Island, it’s very busy during meal times, and without a reservation, you might find it hard to get a seat.

Giuseppe Pizzeria offers a comfortable dining environment

We arrived early, allowing us to take photos of the restaurant’s empty interior; the theme inside uses yellow as the main color, exuding a warm Mediterranean Southern European vibe. The seating is spacious and not crowded, with a semi-open kitchen where you can watch the chefs make pizza.

The open dining space allows the cats outside to freely come and go. Each one is well-fed and plump; they must have a cat radar, knowing that with those eyes, I’ll be tempted to feed them!

Generous seafood toppings and impressive crust

We ordered the seafood pizza at Giuseppe Pizzeria (including service charge 572P, about NT$350), also a popular recommendation on TripAdvisor. It’s about ten inches in size, a bit much for two people. When served, the rich cheese aroma was irresistible.

Giuseppe Pizzeria‘s seafood pizza receives rave reviews on various websites, mainly for its generous use of ingredients. Octopus legs, squid, fish fillets, small scallops, shrimp… As expected from a seaside pizzeria, the ingredients are fresh and authentic.

What impressed me the most was Giuseppe Pizzeria’s handmade crust. How can the often discarded pizza edges taste so good? The crust is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, becoming more fragrant with each chew. The natural flour aroma spreads in your mouth, unlike the heavy, overwhelming crusts that can become tiresome. It’s truly delicious.

(Additional) Giuseppe Pizzeria pasta reviews

I didn’t order pasta this time, but shared with friends in a FB group. They felt the pasta was too salty for Taiwanese tastes. Additionally, because foreigners prefer it slightly al dente, it might be unfamiliar to some (I noticed these two points were the main criticisms on Google). If you prefer a more “Taiwanese” texture, be sure to let the owner know!


Panglao Island Delicacies Giuseppe Pizzeria Review

During my six-day trip to Cebu, the restaurant I miss the most is Giuseppe Pizzeria. Compared to the famous roast pig in Cebu City or the seafood risotto in Dumaguete, I believe Giuseppe Pizzeria is a clear winner! The prices are reasonable, the restaurant atmosphere is great, and the ingredients are genuine. Especially the handmade dough that becomes more flavorful with every bite is truly impressive. I think it is a must-visit in Panglao.
