When looking for accommodation in Bohol, affordability and cleanliness are my top priorities! On the second night of this trip to Bohol, I stayed at the VL Garden Suites in the city center. I chose it mainly because it’s just a five-minute drive from the port, making it very convenient for catching the ferry to Dumaguete the next day. The room had an adorable cactus theme and cost less than 1000 TWD per night, offering great value for money.
This article is a review of my stay at VL Garden Suites, including details on pricing, location, and transportation!
Location of VL Garden Suites
VL Garden Suites is very close to the port. Although it doesn’t have a grand and luxurious lobby, and the entrance appears quite simple, the Alturas Mall of Bohol is right across the street, making the location extremely convenient. The excellent location was a major factor in our choice of accommodation, especially suitable for travelers needing to catch an early ferry the next day.

After returning the scooter at the Bohol port, we took a tricycle to get here for about 40 PHP.
Affordable Accommodation at VL Garden Suites, Bohol
VL Garden Suites offers only one room type, a double room, equipped with a private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, a kettle, and a desk. The room is very spacious, and all this for less than $1000 per night, which I think is an incredible value for money.
The front desk can store your luggage, and after check-in, the staff will help carry your luggage to the room. The only real downside is that the guesthouse is on the third floor and there is no elevator, which might not be suitable if you’re traveling with elderly people or children.
Double Room at VL Garden Suites
VL Garden Suites has a total of seven rooms, each with a different decor style. My favorite is the cactus-themed room. When booking on Booing, I specifically asked the owner if we could have the cactus room. Initially, the owner said it was already booked, but on the day we arrived, we opened the door and found that we got it, which was a delightful surprise XD.
The room features a cactus theme from the pillows to the bed sheets, wall art, and decor, with a white and green base, enough to make anyone’s heart flutter with joy.
Especially the small table under the TV, adorned with various cactus decorations, is incredibly cute. You can feel the owner’s attention to detail. Although we only stayed for one night and had to rush to catch a boat early in the morning, the atmosphere was great.
The room’s cleanliness is quite good, with clean floors and plenty of outlets, which is very convenient for travelers like us who bring a lot of gadgets. There’s a small table in the room for working, and we spent the evening editing our first day’s videos and photos here.
Bohol Island B&B VL Garden Suites Review
Although the hardware and decor of Bohol Island B&B VL Garden Suites are not as luxurious as some big hotels, it has a convenient location, just a five-minute drive from Bohol Port. Right across the B&B, there is an Alturas Mall supermarket, a bank, and a McDonald’s. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy, making it a great choice for budget travelers!
