Among all photography subjects, my favorite is capturing city nightscapes — the transition from day to night transforms the same city into a completely different scene.
Before arriving in Ho Chi Minh, I had already set my sights on Chill Skybar. Among the Skybar options in Vietnam, this one meets my standards for location, drink prices, and photography views.
This article includes my actual visit experience to Chill Skybar, night photography tips, and all the information you need to know before you go.

How to get to Chill Skybar?
Chill Skybar is located in the AB Tower in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, about a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market, making it very convenient to reach.
If you want to capture night views, you can stroll around Ben Thanh Market in the afternoon, have a simple dinner, and walk over around six o’clock to capture the city’s scenery before sunset and the nighttime view. At this time, there aren’t many people, so you can take photos without disturbance.
Dress Code: Change before you go
Chill Skybar is considered a more formal business bar in Vietnam. Upon arriving at AB Tower, you will see the Chill Skybar sign at the entrance, specifically notifying visitors to wear formal attire.
Men should not wear slippers or tank tops; it’s recommended to wear long pants and casual shoes. Women have relatively fewer restrictions.
On the day I visited, I saw foreign tourists entering in shorts without being stopped, but to be safe, it’s still recommended to dress formally to avoid the embarrassment of being turned away at the door to change clothes.
Upon entering AB Tower, you’ll see the Chill Skybar reception on the ground floor. Guided by the staff, we took the elevator to reach the sky-high bar on the 26th floor.
Drink Prices and Consumption Details
Since we arrived early, Chill Skybar wasn’t crowded. Unfortunately, the air quality wasn’t great that day, and the evening sky was a bit hazy.
Chill Skybar is best known for its circular bar. During peak hours, everyone leans against the bar, drinking and chatting while enjoying the city’s nighttime views, making for a very leisurely experience.
We each ordered a cocktail that day, and it was Happy Hour. Each drink cost between 150,000 to 180,000 VND, which is quite cheap compared to skybars in Thailand, where drinks cost about five times more.
However, the real attraction isn’t the drinks; capturing the city’s vibrant and lively atmosphere is what truly matters.

Looking down from the 26th floor, Ho Chi Minh City is filled with low-rise buildings, many of which are old apartments. Honestly, it bears some resemblance to the view from high-rises in Taiwan.
Night Photography Guide: The Best Time to Visit
Chill Skybar is an infinity 180-degree rooftop bar. After wandering around, I found this side of the view to be the most unique, capturing the nearby Ben Thanh Market, several distant skyscrapers, and a glimpse of the Saigon River.
At this time, the sky gradually darkens, and as the lights begin to twinkle, every household starts to illuminate.
Best Shooting Time: 18:00–18:30
About half an hour after sunset, the sky enters the Blue Hour. The sky isn’t completely dark yet, but the lights are on, offering the most beautiful window for city nightscapes, usually lasting only 15–20 minutes.
Around 6:30, as the city lights up one by one, the blue hour casts a mesmerizing deep blue over the sky. The bustling traffic of Ho Chi Minh adds a vibrant and lively touch to the scene.
Standing next to the glass wall of the Skybar, the city’s energy is fully revealed at this moment, rivaling many great nations. If you visit Ho Chi Minh City and have the time, consider stopping by Chill Skybar for a different perspective on Vietnam.

Downtown Rooftop Bar Chill Skybar
Chill Skybar in Ho Chi Minh City is a formal bar, and it is recommended to wear formal attire. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed.
In April 2019, a cocktail costs about 150,000 to 180,000 VND, which is very affordable.
For safety reasons, Chill Skybar prohibits the use of tripods. I brought a small tripod with me, and as soon as I took it out, the staff immediately stopped me.
